About: Native to Australia, these tree leaves have a distinctive smell that is recognized all of the world.There are more than 500 species of eucalyptus and account for 3/4 of Australia's vegetation. If you ever used Listerine or products like "Vick's Vapor Rub" you will know the fresh scent that we are talking about. Eucalyptus is one of the few herbs that have earned the FDA's approval for the treatment of colds and flu's. Its dried leaves are also used in flower arrangements.
Therapeutic uses: Loosens phlegm in the chest, anti-bacteria (effective against influenza A), topically for minor cuts and scrapes, Aromatherapy for migraines. Inhalant for stuffy nose.
Precautions: Can be used externally with little to no problem. Eucalyptus is highly poisonous and should no be ingested (limited to 1-2 DROPS) without the guidance of a physician. Fatalities have been reported from doses as small as a teaspoon.
