Common Name: Essiac Tea Ingredients: Burdock root, Sheep sorrel, Rhubarb root & Slippery elm bark powder
About: From wikipedia.com: a blend of herbs used to make a tea that is believed by some
to have cancer-treating properties. It was discovered by a Canadian
nurse, Rene Caisse, who named it after her last name spelled backwards.
The original formula is believed to have its roots in native Canadian
Ojibwa medicine( argued as incorrect by some). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Essiac
Which 4 or 8 herb formula is best?:
Their are two formulas that are sold around the world and their is some
confusion to which formula is the "original and true" recipe. The 4
herb formula (like we sell- not from teh Essiac corp) contains: burdock
root, sheep sorrel, rhubarb root & slippery elm bark powder mixed
in very specific amounts. The 8 herb formula (which we do not carry)
has 4 more ingredients added: blessed thistle, kelp, red clover, and
watercress. So which is the "true formula"? We believe the 4-herb
formula is the original for several reasons. But also I really dont
think there is much controversy that the 8 herb formula would not work
either. Just to confuse matters their are different recipies for each
of the 4 and 8 herb formulas. However, haven't we aways been taught
(when it comes to herbs) that more is not necessarly better? It is said
that the 8 herb recipe came about from a friend of Rene Caisse's.
Caisse reviewed the recipe but in the long run, declined to add the
extra ingrediants into the recipe. The recipe she received came
entrusted to her by a Canadian medicine man. Why change that, that
already works? What we do know is this: the 4 herb recipe has changed
peoples lives. Period. And different versions of the recipe has worked
as well.
Does Essiac cure cancer & other diseases?:
I wish I could say that Essiac is the true cure-all for cancer.
However, in the United States that would make the tea a drug, and a
claim that Essiac tea is an approved FDA drug in the treatment of
cancer. Essiac tea IS NOT approved by the FDA for the treatment or cure
of cancer. However, what I do urge is that you continue your research
on the use of Essiac tea with cancer. No single item can cure cancer.
It is only through a mix of positive spirituality, mental focus, traditional medicine
and holistic modalities that a balance can be struck. And unfortunately, that is not
a guarantee either.
But really, the case studies, the success stories, cannot be discounted; after all many individuals have
gone into remission. It is belived that the 4 ingrediants in essiac tea
work together to build the immune system, detoxify the blood &
relieve pain. With this theory, it would be logical to say that essiac
could be benefical for other auto immune dissorders & infections.
What does Essiac taste like? Essiac is made from powdered herbs so the brew can become a bit thick. However, it is a palatable "slightly bitter" taste.
Why is your price so low?:
Simple. We believe everyone has the right to be able to buy Essiac tea.
Dont be taken by people claiming that their recipe is the only true
recipe and their ingrediants
are special. It DOES NOT cost $100 to formulate the herb. In fact, we
have someone else do it (to make sure it is done right), and we can
still offer it to you at a reasonable price.
How do you make Essiac tea?: Instructions are provided with purchase.
How much Essiac tea does 1 pound herb make?: 1 pound of herb is enough to make 4 gallons of tea! Reccomened use is 2-4 oz nightly for 30 days.
Precautions with Essiac tea: As
with any herb, precautions should be taken expecially if one has
cancer. Always check with your doctor before use as s/he may have
different views on how much should be injested. The information
provided here is for educational information only and should never be
construed as medical advice. Never inject Essiac ingredients. There is
recipe that claims one of the ingrediants should be injected. This is
not traditional and can be dangerous. Do not use if you are pregnant or
nursing. Do not use if you have or have a history of kidney stones.
Negative effects can occur if you take to much. As essiac is also a
diuretic be sure to drink plenty of fluids. Do not use if you have
intestinal obstructions. Diarrhea and gastrointestinal discomfort may
occur because of the laxative effects of essiac.
